The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other parts of Maharashtra, predicting hot weather, rains and thunderstorms.

The weather department predicted that hot and humid conditions would continue during the day and there was a possibility of light rain or thundershowers towards late afternoon or evening.
