Mumbai's water tanker operators have suspended services and taken their vehicles off the roads in protest against action initiated by authorities over groundwater extraction and regulatory compliance issues, raising concerns about a potential disruption in water supply across parts of the city.

The agitation comes amid a crackdown linked to the implementation of Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) norms.
