The Centre of Excellence in Robotics at Mumbai University’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Kalyan, has taken a significant step towards waterbody rejuvenation by successfully conducting a robotic cleaning demonstration at the Nilje–Mauli lake.

The demonstration, carried out in collaboration with Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and technology firm Janyu Tech, showcased the use of advanced robotic solutions for lake desilting and waste removal. During the trial, Janyu Tech’s heavy-duty sludge cleaning robot, ‘Matsya’, was deployed to remove accumulated silt and floating waste from the lake with minimal environmental disturbance.
