Two dead, one rescued from drowning while immersing ashes in Mumbai's Worli

According to police sources, three individuals accidentally fell into the sea while performing the ritual. They were rescued by police personnel with assistance from local fishermen and rushed to Nair Hospital in Mumbai

Two persons died after drowning and one sustained injuries while performing an asthi visarjan (immersion of ashes) in the sea at Worli area in central Mumbai on Saturday, an official said.

The incident occurred near Lotus jetty at Haji Ali, and the police were alerted about the incident at around 5.40 pm, he said.

According to police sources, three individuals accidentally fell into the sea while performing the ritual. They were rescued by police personnel with assistance from local fishermen and rushed to Nair Hospital.
