A special court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has accepted the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) closure report in a 2022 money laundering case against Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Hasan Mushrif and his sons, following the quashing of the linked predicate offences, news agency PTI reported.
The money laundering probe originated from a complaint filed by the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Pune, in March 2022 over alleged violations of the Companies Act. A subsequent first information report (FIR) was registered at Murgud Police Station in Kolhapur in February 2023 over the alleged fraudulent generation and manipulation of share capital raised from farmers.
