A fire broke out in a pile of scrap material kept on an open ground in Mumbai's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-at-third-floor-of-commercial-building-in-andheri-no-injuries-reported-23605760" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Goregaon area</a> early on Tuesday, officials said.
No casualty was reported, they said.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire broke out in an open plot at Gokhale Wadi, Ganesh Nagar, near Shakala Industrial Estate in Goregaon (East), officials said.
According to the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-at-godown-in-kurla-no-injuries-reported-23605226" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Fire Brigade</a> (MFB), the incident was reported at around 3:50 am. The blaze was confined to dry shrubs, grass, refuse, plastic waste and scrap materials spread over approximately 4,000 sq ft of open ground.
The MFB declared the incident as Level-I at 3:42 am and deployed multiple resources to the site. The response team included four fire engines, two jumbo tankers, one water tanker, one Quick Response Vehicle, an ADFO, and three senior station officers. Police personnel, a 108 ambulance team, and ward staff from the BMC were also mobilised for support.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-moving-car-catches-fire-in-kandivli-no-injuries-23605675" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Fire officials</a> confirmed that no injuries were reported and that firefighting operations were underway to bring the situation under control. The cause of the blaze was not yet known.
<h2>Fire erupts at commercial building in Andheri; no casualty</h2>
In another incident, a fire broke out in a three-storey commercial building in Mumbai's Andheri area on Monday afternoon, officials said.
No casualties were reported, they said.
The blaze was reported at 12.30 pm at Lokshahi, a news channel office, in the building located on <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/gold-dust-worth-rs-7-4-crore-seized-at-mumbai-airport-by-dri-two-held-23605359" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">MIDC Central Road</a> in Andheri (East), according to the officials.
The blaze was confined to the third floor of the commercial building, but the smoke clogged the entire structure, a civic official said.
At least four fire engines and other <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-updates-fire-breaks-out-at-churchgate-station-doused-within-minutes-services-unaffected-say-officials-23605037" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">firefighting vehicles</a> were rushed to the spot and efforts were on to douse the blaze, the official said.
The cause of the fire was not yet known.
<h2>Fire at pearl manufacturing unit in Thane; no casualty</h2>
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at a pearl manufacturing unit in Maharashtra's Thane district on Monday morning, civic officials said.
No one was injured in the blaze, Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Sakhib Kharbe said.
The fire broke out at 5.30 am in the unit located at the Rafique compound on Kalyan Road in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-breaks-out-in-dharavi-halts-trains-between-mahim-and-bandra-23604396" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bhiwandi area</a>. After being alerted, a fire engine was rushed to the spot, he said.
