Mumbai rains: Western suburbs receive 71 mm; IMD issues orange alert for Tuesday

Mumbai's western suburbs recorded 71 mm of rainfall, while the eastern suburbs received 69 mm and the Island City 31 mm between 8 am and 8 pm on Monday. IMD warned of more heavy to extremely heavy rain and strong winds

Western suburbs record 71 mm rain in last 24 hours (Pic/Shadab Khan)

Mumbai and surrounding areas continue to witness intense monsoon showers on Monday, with the suburbs receiving significantly higher rainfall than the island city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday also warned of continued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds across Konkan and adjoining ghat regions during the late hours of Monday. 

As per IMD, the island city, between 8 am and 8 pm on July 6, received an average rainfall of 31 mm, while the Eastern Suburbs recorded 69 mm and the Western Suburbs received 71 mm.
