Mumbai rains: IMD issues red alert as heavy downpour triggers widespread waterlogging

Several low-lying areas, including Andheri, Kings Circle, Gandhi Market, SIES College and Sion, witnessed waterlogging, affecting traffic movement during the morning rush hour

Mumbai woke up to heavy rainfall on Thursday, with widespread waterlogging reported across several parts of the city after intense overnight showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and neighbouring districts of Thane, Palghar and Raigad, warning of intense spells of rain and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places.
