In a major breakthrough, the Mumbai Police on Wednesday seized 56 stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs 10.89 lakh during a late-night raid at a hotel in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-women-cops-set-up-footpath-delivery-room-for-pregnant-woman-23605819?sports-other-sports-breakingnews" rel="nofollow">Dongri</a>.&nbsp;
The operation carried out by the Mumbai Police took place at 12:45 am on Wednesday at Akbari Khidmad Hotel, near Dontad Road, in Dongri.
As per the information received by the police officials, Senior Police Inspector Dattatray Jadhav and Assistant Police Inspector Wasim Patel earlier received a tip-off that three individuals were arriving at the hotel to sell stolen mobile phones.&nbsp;
Taking swift action on the information, the team reached the location and set up a trap. One by one, three suspects arrived at the hotel room.&nbsp;
After nabbing all three accused, the suspects were then further questioned about the mobile phones in their possession; all of them allegedly gave confusing responses.&nbsp;
Furthermore, the officers then detained all three suspects, summoned two witnesses, and further conducted a detailed panchnama.
The search operation then further led to the recovery of 56 mobile phones, collectively valued at nearly Rs 10,89,000. The seizure of stolen mobile phones by Mumbai Police was done under section 35(1)(e) of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/bns-with-great-power-comes-great-responsibility-23360118" rel="nofollow">Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.</a> The officials said that further investigation is underway to determine the source of the stolen devices and the network involved.
