Mumbai Police have imposed prohibitory orders across the city from July 23 to August 6, restricting unlawful assemblies of five or more persons, processions and the use of loudspeakers in processions, citing apprehensions of a breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity, and danger to life and property.

The orders, issued on July 18 by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) and Executive Magistrate Akbar Pathan under sub-section (3) of Section 37 read with sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, will remain in force from 12.01 am on July 23 until midnight on August 6 across areas under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
