As Mumbai’s 2026-27 school admission cycle begins across several institutions, parent groups have demanded that the government publicly disclose the list of unauthorised schools operating in the city, warning that enrolling children in such institutions could put their academic future at risk.

The demand follows earlier government action that had identified hundreds of unrecognised schools across Maharashtra, including nearly 200 in Mumbai, prompting parent associations to now seek clarity on what action was taken and whether any such schools continue to operate.
