Heavy rain alert: Schools, colleges shut across Mumbai Metropolitan Region on Monday

With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing orange and red rain alerts for different parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, civic bodies and district administrations have declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Monday, July 6, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.

Mumbai schools, colleges to remain shut on Monday; offices to function as usual

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Education Department, in a circular issued on Sunday, announced that all government, private, municipal, aided, and unaided primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools, as well as colleges in Mumbai, will remain closed on Monday. The decision follows the IMD's orange alert for Mumbai, forecasting heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds.
