Western Railway, while sharing <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-updates-central-railway-to-operate-mega-block-on-its-main-and-harbour-line-on-august-16-check-details-here-23644848" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai local train updates</a>, on Friday said that it has cancelled the jumbo block scheduled between Borivali and Bhayandar stations during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16.
The cancellation means the planned overnight block will not be carried out as scheduled.
Western Railway has asked passengers to take note of the revised arrangement and plan their journeys accordingly.
The jumbo block was originally scheduled to take place during the night of August 15-16, 2026, between Borivali and Bhayandar stations.
<h2>CR to operate mega block on its Main and Harbour Line on Aug 16</h2>
Meanwhile, the Central Railway on Friday said that it will operate a mega block on Sunday, August 16, to carry out engineering and maintenance work on its Main Line and Harbour Line.
The block will affect train services between Thane and Kalyan on the Main Line and between Panvel and Vashi on the Harbour Line.
Railway officials have advised passengers to plan their journeys accordingly as several services will be diverted, delayed or cancelled during the block.
<h2>Main Line mega block between Thane and Kalyan</h2>
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-update-services-to-be-hit-by-4-hour-jumbo-block-between-borivali-and-bhayandar-on-weekend-check-details-23644677" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">UP and DOWN fast lines</a> between Thane and Kalyan will remain under block from 10.40 am to 3.10 pm.
During this period, Down fast and semi-fast services leaving CSMT between 9.34 am and 2.17 pm will be diverted on to the Down slow line between Thane and Kalyan.
These trains will make additional halts at Kalva, Mumbra, Diva, Kopar, Dombivli and Thakurli, apart from their scheduled stops. They are expected to reach their destinations around 10 minutes behind schedule.
UP fast and semi-fast services leaving Kalyan between 10.28 am and 2.58 pm will similarly be diverted on to the UP slow line between Kalyan and Thane.
These <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/ganesh-chaturthi-2026-western-railway-announces-additional-ganpati-special-train-trips-from-mumbai-details-here-23644675" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">trains will make additional stops</a> at Thakurli, Dombivli, Kopar, Diva, Mumbra and Kalva. They will be re-diverted on to the UP slow line at Mulund and are expected to reach their destinations around 10 minutes late.
Down Mail and Express trains leaving CSMT and Dadar will be diverted on to the fifth line between Thane and Kalyan.
UP Mail and Express trains arriving at CSMT and Dadar will be diverted on to the sixth line between Kalyan and Thane/Vikhroli.
<h2>Harbour Line services to be cancelled</h2>
The Harbour Line will have a block between Panvel and Vashi from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. The PORT Line will not be affected.
Down Harbour Line services towards Belapur and Panvel, departing CSMT between 9.45 am and 3.12 pm, will remain cancelled.
Up Harbour Line services towards CSMT, departing Panvel or Belapur between 10.33 am and 3.49 pm, will also remain cancelled.
<h2>Trans-Harbour services also affected</h2>
Trans-Harbour services will also face <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-updates-centre-scraps-delayed-238-rake-tender-orders-faster-production-for-2027-23644496" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">cancellations during the maintenance block</a>.
Down Trans-Harbour services towards Panvel, departing Thane between 10.01 am and 3.20 pm, will remain cancelled.
UP Trans-Harbour services towards Thane, departing Panvel between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm, will also remain cancelled.
<h2>Special services to operate</h2>
To provide some relief to passengers, special trains will operate between CSMT and Vashi during the block period.
Trans-Harbour services will continue to operate between Thane and Vashi/Nerul.
The PORT Line services will also remain available during the maintenance work.
Central Railway said the maintenance block is necessary for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety.
Passengers have been requested to bear with the administration for the inconvenience caused by the mega block, officials said.
