Western Railway (WR) on Monday announced a major block in connection with the construction of the 6th railway line between <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/western-railway-sixth-line-work-240-mumbai-local-trains-to-be-cancelled-on-jan-12-13-says-wr-check-details-here-23611343" rel="nofollow">Kandivali </a>and Borivali in Mumbai. 
The block is expected to impact suburban and long-distance train services. As per the information received by the Western Railway, the authorities have undertaken a block of 30 days that started on December 20 last year and will continue till January 18, 2026.
An official statement from Western Railway stated, &ldquo;A major block has been planned during the night of January 14 for the dismantling of point 103 on the Up Fast line between Kandivali and Malad stations. The block will be in force from 00:00 am to 05:30 am on the Up Fast line and from 01:00 am to 04:30 am on the Down Fast line.&rdquo;
Moreover, another major block has been scheduled on the night of January 15 for dismantling point 102 on the Down Fast line between Kandivali and Malad. This block will also be operative from 12:00 am to 05:30 am on the Up Fast line and from 01:00 am to 04:30 am on the Down Fast line.
Due to the block, suspension of the 5th line, and the imposition of speed restrictions, several suburban services will remain cancelled. The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/western-railway-sixth-line-work-253-mumbai-local-trains-including-ac-services-and-express-trains-to-be-cancelled-on-jan-10-11-check-details-23611026?entertainment-bollywood-news-article-breakingnews" rel="nofollow">Western Railways</a> also highlighted that some Up Fast Line mail and express trains will also be affected.
As part of the operational changes, Train No. 19426 Nandurbar&ndash;Borivali Express and Train No. 19418 Ahmedabad&ndash;Borivali Express, commencing their journeys on January 13 and 14, 2026, will short terminate at Vasai Road.&nbsp;
<h2 class="pf0">Mail trains will start from Vasai Road instead of Borivali</h2>
Whereas train no. 19425 Borivali-Nandurbar Express and train no. 19417 <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbais-train-network-gets-major-boost-with-faster-trains-new-halts-as-wr-rolls-out-new-timetable-23610211" rel="nofollow">Borivali-Ahmedabad Express</a>, commencing on January 14 and 15, 2026, will start from Vasai Road instead of Borivali.
<h2 class="pf0">Summary of suburban trains cancelled&nbsp;</h2>
As per the data issued by the Western Railways, a total of 144 suburban trains will remain cancelled each day, including 69 Up trains and 75 Down trains.

<h2>240 Mumbai local trains to be cancelled on Jan 12-13</h2>
As many as 240 Mumbai local trains will remain cancelled on January 12 and 13 due to the ongoing Western Railway sixth line work, an official statement said on Friday.

<h2 class="pf0">Passenger advisory</h2>
Passengers are advised to check train schedules in advance and plan their journey accordingly. Detailed information on affected trains is available with the concerned Station Masters.
Western Railway has requested commuters to cooperate during this period of construction to improve overall service capacity on the busy Kandivali-Borivali section.
