<p>A fire broke out at the infamous <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/mumbai-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dagadi Chawl building</a> in central <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/byculla-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai's Byculla area</a> on Wednesday night but no one was injured in the incident, said Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).</p>
<p>According to BMC, the fire broke out in a room on the top floor of the two-storey building on BJ Marg around 9 pm and was brought under control within an hour.</p>
<p>"A level 1 fire broke out at a room in a two-storey building at around 9:20 pm in BJ Marg, Dagadi Chawl in Mumbai's Byculla area," BMC said in a statement.</p>

<p>A civic official told the news agency PTI that four fire engines were rushed to the spot.</p>
<p>No one was injured as the flames were confined to only two rooms, BMC said, adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Dagadi Chawl acquired fame in the 1990s as gangster Arun Gawli lived and operated from there. Gawli is now lodged in prison.</p><p>
