Middle Vaitarna reservoir 90 per cent full amid heavy rains, BMC opens three dam gates

The Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Reservoir is 90 per cent full, with water levels at 282.13 meters. BMC opened three dam gates on July 7 to release 3000 cusecs into Modak Sagar. This comes as heavy rainfall continues in Mumbai.

The Hinduhridaysamrat Shiv Sena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Reservoir, which is one of the seven water reservoirs that supply water to Mumbai and other regions of Maharashtra, is 90 per cent full. 

BMC on Monday, while posting information about the Hinduhridaysamrat Shiv Sena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Reservoir on social media platform X, stated, “Out of the 7 reservoirs supplying water to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area, the ‘Hinduhridaysamrat Shiv Sena Pramukh Balasaheb Thackeray Middle Vaitarna Reservoir’ is approximately 90 per cent full as of today, July 7, 2025.”
