Researchers have discovered a new micro-snail species, Dicharax tilariensis, in the semi-evergreen forests of Tilari Nagar in Kolhapur district. Measuring just a few millimetres, the land snail is currently known only from its discovery site near Swapnavel Point. The species was described by Amrut Bhosale, Tejas Thackeray, and Akshay Khandekar of the Thackeray Wildlife Foundation in a paper published in the Journal of Conchology on Oct 24. It is the second endemic species of its genus described from the northern Western Ghats.
