The National Green Tribunal’s Western Zone Bench in Pune has issued a notice on an appeal filed by Advocate Sagar K Devre challenging the diversion of 233 hectares of forest land and permission to fell 32,490 trees for the 3000 MW Saidongar-1 Pumped Storage Project in Karjat, Raigad district.
Advocate Maitreya Ghorpade appeared on behalf of the appellant and presented the arguments. The appeal raises serious environmental and legal concerns over forest conservation, compliance with the Forest Rights Act, objections raised by gram sabhas, wildlife protection, and the project’s impact on the ecologically sensitive Western Ghats.
