Maharashtra legislative council polls on May 12; counting the same day

Voting for all 10 seats is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, between 9 am and 4 pm. The counting of votes will take place after 5 pm on the same day

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for biennial elections to nine seats in the Maharashtra Legislative Council that will be filled by members of the state legislative assembly. The terms of these nine members are set to expire on May 13, 2026.

In addition, a by-election will be held for one vacant seat following the resignation of Pragya Satav.
