Maharashtra declares 265 of 358 talukas drought-affected amid rainfall deficit

Maharashtra government has declared 265 of the state’s 358 talukas drought-affected, covering 74 per cent of the state, amid an 18.8 per cent rainfall deficit. Beed, Dharashiv, Latur and Solapur are among districts facing severe rainfall shortages and crop losses

The Maharashtra Government on Saturday, September 26, declared 265 of the 358 talukas in the state as drought-affected, an official notification said.
As per the Government Resolution (GR) released by the state government, the measure covers 74 per cent area of the state, according to PTI. The decision follows CM Devendra Fadnavis' recent visit to some drought-affected parts of the state.
