A 41-year-old doctor was allegedly abused and physically assaulted by a patient’s son at a hospital in Kalyan, police said on Sunday. The Kalyan police registered a case against Vineet Jaywant Deshmukh, 30, under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A police officer told mid-day, “Deshmukh’s father had visited the hospital’s outpatient department for a medical check. After examining him, Dr Yogendra Jaiswal prescribed medicines and gave instructions on dosage and daily dietary restrictions. While the doctor was addressing the patient’s queries, Deshmukh allegedly became aggressive and demanded further clarification about dietary rules, dressing schedules and medication use.”
