Heavy rain continued to lash the ghat sections of Pune district on Saturday, with Tamhini Ghat recording more than 5,500 mm of rainfall in the last two months, making it one of the wettest locations in Maharashtra this monsoon season.

The persistent downpour across the Western Ghats has pushed reservoirs close to full capacity, triggered flooding in low-lying areas and caused structural damage in parts of Pune city. A major rescue operation was carried out by the Pune Fire Brigade after water entered several housing societies in Ekta Nagari on Sinhagad Road due to the large-scale discharge of water from Khadakwasla dam into the Mutha river. Fire personnel evacuated around 70 to 80 residents trapped in the flooded buildings using a boat, and they were shifted to a safe place.
