The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in coordination with the Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, has launched an initiative to scientifically process wet waste generated from prasad distribution and food services during Ganeshotsav and convert it into renewable energy.
Under the initiative, titled ‘Prasad to Energy’, wet waste generated from the mandal’s prasad room and food distribution facility will be processed through biomethanation, with the resulting electricity being used at civic hospitals.
