<p>Twenty-nine electricity meters were damaged after a fire broke out in the meter box cabin of a residential building in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-food-shop-in-thane-no-casualty-23593137" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane city</a> early Thursday morning, an official said, reported news agency PTI.</p>
<p>No person was injured in the incident, he said.</p>
<p>The blaze was reported at 4.10 am on the ground floor of the four-storey Vikas Co-operative Housing Society located behind Anand Talkies in Sainath Nagar, Thane's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>Local police, disaster management cell staff, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-textile-processing-unit-in-thane-district-23586100" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">fire brigade personnel</a> and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (Mahavitaran) officials rushed to the spot after being alerted, reported PTI.</p>
<p>A total of 29 meters were damaged in the blaze, the official said.</p>
<p>The fire was extinguished by 5 am, he said, adding the cause of the blaze was being probed.</p>
<h2>Fire erupts in electric meter cabin of 5-storey building at Goregaon</h2>
<p>In another incident, a fire broke out in the electric meter box of a five-storey building in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-destroys-28-electricity-meters-in-thane-residential-building-23586328" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Goregaon area</a> of Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. No casualty was reported in the incident, reported PTI.</p>
<p>Flames erupted in the electric meter box of Shalimar Building on S V Road at around 12.15 pm, and four fire engines and other vehicles of Mumbai Fire Brigade doused it after more than two hours of efforts, reported PTI.</p>
<p>A civic official said the municipal corporation's ward staff, Mumbai Police, 108 Ambulance, Adani Electricity and other agencies were mobilised following the incident, reported PTI.</p>
<p>The building has been constructed as part of a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-thane-high-rise-no-casualties-reported-23562505" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Slum Redevelopment Authority project</a>.</p>
<h2>Fire erupts in 24-storey building in Mumbai; no casualties</h2>
<p>Meanwhile, a fire broke out in a 24-storey residential building in the western suburbs here on Sunday afternoon, civic officials said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>There were no reports of casualties in the blaze that erupted around 3 pm on the seventh floor of New Janakalyan Society at Shanti Nagar in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-bmw-car-catches-fire-near-kasarvadavali-signal-no-injuries-reported-23589744" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Dahisar East</a>, an official said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>The firefighting efforts are underway, he said.</p>
<p>The official said that the high-rise was smoke-logged, posing difficulties for firefighters, reported PTI.</p>
<p>At least seven fire engines and other emergency response vehicles were at the spot, he said, adding that the cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.</p>
