<p>Central Railway has announced the cancellation, rescheduling and short-termination of several trains on July 9 and 10 as restoration work continues following a major landslide in the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-monsoon-mumbai-pune-train-services-disrupted-after-landslide-in-karjat-lonavala-ghat-section-23638414" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Lonavala-Karjat ghat section</a>.</p>
<p>Officials said repair and clearance operations are being carried out on a priority basis after the landslide disrupted railway movement on the crucial route.</p>
<p>According to Central Railway, the middle line of the three-line ghat section was declared safe on the evening of July 7. However, work to restore the remaining two lines is still underway.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/central-railway-deploys-1100-workers-to-restore-mumbai-pune-rail-route-after-landslides-amid-heavy-rains-23638853" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">More than 1,100 workers have been deployed for restoration operations</a> in the affected area. Officials said a 6-km stretch of the Up line has already been restored.</p>
<h2>Several major trains cancelled on July 9 and 10</h2>
<p>Due to ongoing technical work, several important train services have been affected.</p>
<p>Central Railway said trains cancelled on July 9 include 12124 Pune-CSMT Deccan Queen, 12123 CSMT-Pune Deccan Queen, 11007 CSMT-Pune Deccan Express, 11008 Pune-CSMT Deccan Express, 12127 CSMT-Pune Intercity Express, 12128 Pune-CSMT Intercity Express and 11042 Sainagar Shirdi-Dadar Express.</p>
<p>The 11027 Dadar-Satara Express has been cancelled for July 10.</p>
<p>Railway officials have also announced changes to some services. The 11301 CSMT-Bengaluru Express scheduled for July 9 has been short-originated and will start its journey from Pune instead of CSMT.</p>
<h2>Some trains rescheduled, normal routes restored for others</h2>
<p>Several trains, including the CSMT-Howrah Express, Hadapsar-Nanded Express, Pune-Ernakulam Express and Pune-Ahmedabad Express, have been rescheduled for early Thursday departures.</p>
<p>Despite the disruptions, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/lonavala-karjat-landslide-disrupts-train-services-central-railway-cancels-14-trains-23638643" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Central Railway</a> said some trains that were earlier affected have resumed operations on their regular routes.</p>
<p>Services such as the Chennai-CSMT Express, Chennai-LTT Express, Bengaluru-CSMT Express and Bhubaneswar-CSMT Express are now running on their normal routes.</p>
<p>Earlier, multiple trains had been diverted through the Thane-Diva-Panvel-Karjat route to maintain connectivity.</p>
<h2>Heavy rains trigger landslide in ghat section</h2>
<p>The landslide occurred following intense monsoon rainfall in the region, affecting railway operations and also disrupting road connectivity.</p>
<p>On July 5, debris blocked the road leading to Rajmachi Fort, requiring extensive clearance work using earth-moving machinery.</p>
<p>Authorities have continued monitoring vulnerable locations as rainfall persists in the area.</p>
<h2>Passengers advised to check train updates</h2>
<p>The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-update-imd-issues-heavy-rain-alert-for-state-ghat-areas-likely-to-receive-extremely-heavy-rainfall-23638338" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">India Meteorological Department </a>(IMD) has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rainfall across the Tehsil Mawal region in Pune district until July 10.</p>
<p>Central Railway has advised passengers to check the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) for the latest train status and updates before starting their journey.</p>
