The Bombay High Court has upheld the Maharashtra government's decision to deny early remission and release to a man convicted of killing a woman after she rejected his marriage proposal, observing that the murder was committed with exceptional violence and brutality.
In an order dated July 20, a bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ashish Chavan held that Ajay Kisan Dungarshi had rightly been placed under the category prescribing imprisonment, including remission, of 26 years.
