The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/boat-from-kuwait-illegally-reaches-mumbai-raises-security-concerns-23333826" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Police</a> have registered a case against three persons on charges of illegal entry after they arrived in Mumbai on a boat from Kuwait, an official said on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.

Prima facie, nothing suspicious was found on the boat which was anchored at the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-aspiring-cop-becomes-chain-snatcher-23333858" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Gateway of India</a> on Tuesday, he said, reported PTI.
The trio hail from Tamil Nadu.
They went to Kuwait two years back for work. They were allegedly ill-treated by their agent who took them to Kuwait following which they escaped from there, the official said, reported PTI.
The boat was checked after it was anchored at the Gateway of India, he said.

A case was registered against the three persons by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-cops-arrest-women-involved-in-fake-medical-certificate-case-23333859" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Colaba police</a> under provisions of the Passports Act for illegal entry, the official said, reported PTI.
Notably, 10 Pakistani terrorists who launched a terror strike in Mumbai in November 2008 had arrived by the sea route.
The Mumbai Police on Tuesday launched a probe after a boat from Kuwait with three persons on board arrived at the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-gangsters-politicians-and-police-involved-in-chunnabhatti-firing-23333861" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Gateway of India</a>, an official said, reported PTI.
Further investigation is underway, the official added.
According to police, a suspicious boat named "Abdullah Sharif" was found roaming near the Gateway of India, reported ANI.
The boat had three people on board, all of them hailing from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari, and they are being questioned, reported ANI.
Meanwhile, according to police, naxals are trying to expand their urban footprint in Maharashtra by roping in youngsters from poor sections in slums in big cities like Mumbai and Pune for military tasks and setting up safe havens, reported PTI.
Naxals are trying to direct the discontent among youngsters from low-income groups living in urban slum pockets against the government, a senior police officer disclosed while talking to PTI. "In their documents, Naxals have mentioned that their 'urban network' is quite strong in cities like Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Pune and Gondia," said Special IG, anti-naxal operations (Maharashtra) Sandip Patil, reported PTI.
Naxalites are targeting youngsters from lower socioeconomic groups living in slums for spreading the Maoist ideology and for (engaging them in) military tasks, he added.
"They are trying to rope them in for logistical tasks involving ordnance, arms and ammunition, medical help, and for building safe havens in forest and urban localities," he said, reported PTI.
Naxals mentioned in their secret documents that their network is quite strong in slum areas in Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur and Gondia, Patil said, reported PTI.
