BMC elections 2026: Over 2,500 candidates file nominations across Mumbai

According to election officials, 208 nominations were filed from South Mumbai, covering wards A to E (Colaba to Byculla). The island city accounted for 724 nominations, while 930 nominations were filed from the Eastern Suburbs and 852 from the Western Suburbs

A total of 2,516 candidates have filed their nominations for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, with 2,122 nominations submitted on Tuesday alone, the final day of the nomination process.

According to election officials, 208 nominations were filed from South Mumbai, covering wards A to E (Colaba to Byculla). The island city accounted for 724 nominations, while 930 nominations were filed from the Eastern Suburbs and 852 from the Western Suburbs.
