Days after a building collapse in Bhiwandi claimed the lives of at least 10 people, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has issued a fresh public appeal asking residents and commercial occupants to immediately vacate 33 buildings declared as C-1 (Extremely Dangerous) for 2026-27, warning that continued occupation could lead to another tragedy.

The civic body’s Encroachment Department had on Saturday issued a public notice stating that the identified buildings have been declared structurally unsafe and are unfit for both residential and commercial use. The move comes amid heightened concerns over aging buildings during the ongoing monsoon.
