Two schoolboys, aged 13 and 15, drowned after they went swimming in a water tank at a cattle shed in Aarey Colony, Goregaon East in Mumbai, on Friday. The boys were rescued and taken to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-mayor-ritu-tawde-inspects-jogeshwari-trauma-hospital-orders-key-service-improvements-23645690" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Trauma Care Hospital</a>, where they were declared brought dead, officials said.
The incident was reported at around 11.55 am on August 21 near Gautam Nagar, Modern Bakery Junction in Aarey Colony.
According to the information received by the civic authorities, the two boys had been swimming in a water tank at a cattle shed when they drowned.
The BMC's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-aayakar-bhavan-basement-in-churchgate-20-fire-tenders-deployed-23645257" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB)</a>, police, 108 ambulance services and BMC ward staff were mobilised following the incident. The boys were rescued from the tank and shifted to Trauma Care Hospital.
<h2>Both students declared brought dead</h2>
The concerned Assistant Medical Officer of HBT Hospital informed authorities at around 1.48 pm that both boys had been declared brought dead.
The deceased were identified as Zaib Patel, 15, a Class 10 student and Nakhib Patel, 13, a Class 9 student.&nbsp; Both boys were absent from school, official said.
According to officials, principal of Jogeshwari Gunfa English Medium Secondary School, both boys were students of the school.
Zaib was studying in Class 10, while Nakhib was in Class 9. School authorities said both students were absent from school on Friday.
The circumstances that led the boys to the water tank and the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-photographer-arrested-for-allegedly-drowning-his-10-year-old-son-after-dispute-with-wife-23642434" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">events leading up to the drowning</a> are being investigated by the authorities.
<h2>Agencies respond</h2>
The incident was reported by the C.P. Control. The BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, 108 ambulance personnel and BMC ward staff responded to the emergency.
