19-year-old in Maharashtra's Thane dies by suicide amid family’s marriage postponement demand

The youth, originally from Jharkhand, was in love with a girl from his hometown and wished to marry her. However, his family asked him to wait until he turned 21, the legal age for marriage, leading to emotional distress, according to an official from Manpada police station

A 19-year-old man from Maharashtra’s Thane district reportedly died by suicide, police said Tuesday, citing mental stress caused by his family’s insistence on delaying his marriage.

According to the news agency PTI, the incident occurred on November 30 in Dombivli.
