Thane court acquits dentist in POCSO case after survivor, mother turn hostile

According to the prosecution, the alleged incident took place on December 25, 2023, when the survivor, then aged 15, visited the accused's dental clinic in Mumbra with her younger sister for treatment of a toothache

A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act court in Thane has acquitted a 32-year-old dentist accused of sexually assaulting a minor at his clinic in 2023, observing that there was "absolutely no evidence" linking him to the alleged offence after the victim and her mother turned hostile during the trial, news agency PTI reported.

Special Judge (POCSO Act) and Additional Sessions Judge Premal Vithalani passed the order on Tuesday. A copy of the judgment became available on Wednesday.
