What initially appeared to be a routine house theft in Malad East has unravelled into a tale of debt-driven desperation and familial betrayal. In a swift breakthrough, the Dindoshi police arrested two youths for allegedly stealing gold and cash worth over R3.38 lakh from the home of the prime accused’s own elder brother, exposing a carefully planned crime rooted in financial distress.

The theft took place on April 14 in Iraniwadi, Malad East, when the complainant, Asia Salim Memon, 26, was asleep inside her residence. Around 3.15 pm, an unidentified accused allegedly entered the house through an open door and decamped with gold jewellery and cash kept in a wooden cupboard.
