The parents of IIT Bombay student, whose death has sparked protests at the institute, began a hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on Thursday, seeking action against those they allege were responsible for tormenting their son.

The deceased student's father Ravindra Wakode, said those who allegedly harassed his son should be arrested. He also claimed that his son had repeatedly told the family that he faced caste discrimination at IIT Bombay.
