After four years, the Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles Gallery at the CSMVS will open its doors to educate a new generation of children about the city’s marine life

The exhibits display taxidermied fish which retain their original scales, explains curator Manoj Chaudhuri
Walk into your neighbourhood fish market, and you’re bound to be greeted with the strong whiff of surmai, paplet, rawas, and bombil. The children visiting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya will soon learn about these popular species and their larger cousins at the Fish, Amphibians and Reptiles Gallery which opened doors yesterday after a hiatus of four years.

The gallery will have a renewed focus on Mumbai’s coastal biodiversity and marine life. Pics/Atul Kamble
