New survey says 61 per cent Indian travellers booked a trip to celebrate small wins like surviving a tough work week

Indian travellers are not waiting for long holidays, anniversaries or major career milestones to pack their bags. In 2026, they are officially shifting from milestone-led travel to lifestyle-led travel, turning everyday moments into prime getaway opportunities.

New research commissioned by online travel platform Booking.com in partnership with YouGov, reveals that 58 per cent of Indian travellers have taken a trip simply because they wanted to, while more than half (57 per cent) logged two to three leisure trips in the past year that were not linked to any major life event, celebration or milestone; highlighting a growing shift toward more spontaneous, lifestyle-led travel.
