City-based priests Father Joe D’Souza and Father Avin Franklin came together to bless the pets at Church of Our Lady of Health on Dr Viegas Street in Kalbadevi

While there were pet parents with their dogs of different kinds of breeds brought to the church, there were also stray dogs who were spotted there

Along with the dogs, there were cat lovers who also came along with their feline pets in all shapes, sizes and colours to get blessed on the occasion

Known to bless pets in the past, the church also saw the late Ratan Tata's dog 'Goa' pay a visit and get blessed by the priests in the city

While blessings are known to be given to humans, this gesture not only unites church-goers and pets but also reminds people why we need to take care of animals, and highlight the role they play in many of our lives
