Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay launched the expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme on September 22, extending its benefits to students from Classes VI to VIII studying in government and government-aided schools across the state. During the launch, the actor-turned-politician served breakfast to students and later sat down with them on the floor to eat.

Vijay launched the expanded programme at Chennai Middle School in Gandhi Gramam, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. He served sweet Pongal to the children before joining them for breakfast. The Chief Minister also inspected classrooms and interacted with students as they ate, seemingly asking them about the food.
