Actor Karthi's latest film, Vaa Vaathiyaar, with director Nalan Kumarasamy, which was all set to hit screens on 12 December, has been postponed just hours before its release. The update comes after the Madras High Court issued a stay order against the film's release. This comes just days after Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 was also potponed last minute owing to similar issues.

The film will not be released on its scheduled date owing to the production house Studio Green’s KE Gnanavel Raja's legal case. The court’s order is based on a debt of Rs 10.35 crore, which has reached Rs 21.78 crore with interest. This sum was reportedly borrowed by the producer from businessman Arjunlal Sundardas, who was declared insolvent by the Madras High Court in 2014.
