Watching The Devil Wears Prada as a teenager a couple of years ago, I was immediately enthralled, like every other girl. It was my first glimpse into the distant and insular fashion industry, and Andy’s fresh off the runway outfits fuelled several makeover fantasies. It also influenced my ambition to pursue journalism, to chase stories and decide what culture is, just as I was about to enter college.

So, walking into the theatre to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2, I was anticipating a sequel that was driven by nostalgia and the need to recapture the glories of publishing and luxury fashion, but was happily surprised with a reality check.
