Some films take you back to childhood within the first few minutes, and Doraemon: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil does exactly that. From Nobita’s familiar house and the neighbourhood playground to Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian and Suneo, everything feels like coming home after years away. It is nostalgic, colourful and unmistakably Doraemon.
With summer vacation around the corner, Nobita and his friends are stuck deciding whether they should head to the mountains or the beach. Naturally, they turn to Doraemon for a solution. And because this is Doraemon, the answer is not to choose one; it is to somehow do both. Their adventure takes them deep beneath the sea, where they encounter fascinating marine creatures, explore the underwater world and find themselves dealing with one problem after another before eventually facing the mysterious undersea devil.
