The Tribeca Festival has reportedly been caught in a major data security scare after an unsecured online database allegedly exposed more than 6.6 lakh records, including contact details linked to several Hollywood celebrities and industry professionals. According to a report by Variety, the leaked database contained information associated with stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, although the festival has disputed claims that their personal contact details were compromised.
Database found online
According to Variety, cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered the unsecured database while conducting a routine search using an internet-connected device search engine. Fowler, who has spent years tracking exposed online data, said the database contained over 666,000 records, the majority of which were promotional assets, press kits and marketing material related to the festival.
