Randeep Hooda’s love for horses goes beyond the screen. A passionate equestrian and polo player, the actor has a deep connection with horses.

This year, Dussehra and Ashwa Pooja held extra significance for Randeep and wife Lin Laishram as they celebrated the occasion with their daughter, Nyomica, who was born in March.

The couple shared glimpses of their celebrations, giving fans a peek into their family traditions. For Randeep, the occasion was also an opportunity to introduce his little one to traditions close to his heart.

Ashwa Pooja is a traditional ritual in which horses are worshipped as a mark of respect for their strength, grace and loyalty.

The ceremony reflects the important role these animals have played in Indian history and culture. Dussehra is associated with the victory of good over evil and the worship of weapons and tools used in battle.

Horses were essential to kings and warriors, making their worship an important tradition in several communities.

On the occasion, the horses are bathed, groomed and adorned with garlands and traditional caparisons, or decorative coverings, for the ceremony.

A sacred tilak made of vermilion, turmeric or sandalwood paste is applied to the horses’ foreheads.

As part of the tradition, the horses are fed a special diet comprising wholesome foods such as jaggery (gur), soaked moong, gram, jowar and puris.

Randeep and Lin Laishram’s photodump captures all the warmth, flavor, and tradition of the festival.

Sharing the pics, they captioned, "Dussehra and Ashwa Pooja feel extra special this year with our little Devi joining our celebrations. Our little blessing growing up with our traditions and culture."
