Bollywood men who faced casting couch: Ranveer Singh to Ayushmann Khurrana

The casting couch has long been one of the entertainment industry's most controversial realities, affecting not just women but men as well. Over the years, several male actors have spoken openly about facing inappropriate propositions and uncomfortable experiences while trying to build their careers.


Ranveer Singh opened up about an uncomfortable casting couch experience during the early days of his career. In an interview with NDTV, the actor revealed that a casting director allegedly made inappropriate advances and and advised him to be open to "take and touch". However, he firmly refused.

Ayushmann Khurrana revealed his casting couch experience during an interview with Pinkvilla. He recounted that early in his career, during his struggling days, a casting director directly asked him to "show his tool" in exchange for a lead role. The actor stated that he politely declined the unethical offer and relied on his talent to build his career.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajeev Khandelwal spoke about the advances made by a film producer. Khandelwal recounted how the producer, while boasting about his recent box office success, serenaded him with a song during a professional meeting and made comments about his masculinity. The actor added that though he didn't create a scene, he surely expressed his disinterest by giving him a middle finger.

Ravi Kishan, who has acted in over 450 Bhojpuri films and even Bollywood movies, admitted in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra that he was subjected to many "attacks" when he was younger, especially because he was slim, had long hair, and wore an earring.

Harshvardhan Rane revealed that a casting director once asked him to take off his pants so that the director could "see his strong legs," but the actor firmly refused. He shared this early career experience during an interview with MTV India, where he was one of several actors discussing the reality of the casting couch in the film industry.

Ankit Siwach, best known for his role in 120 Bahadur, also opened up about an unpleasant experience. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he revealed facing inappropriate propositions during his modelling days, including requests for explicit photos and invitations to unrelated parties. He also said he encountered repeated pressure to "compromise" for career growth but chose not to give in.

During the podcast Two Girls and Two Cups, Rithvikk Dhanjani recounted the unsettling incident that left a scar on his impressionable mind. The actor revealed that a director allegedly began touching him after talking about "working smart" in the industry, leaving him terrified before he managed to escape the situation.

Anupamaa actor Sudhanshu Pandey, who has been a part of several film like Singh is Kingg, Khiladi among others, spoke to Gallata India about facing casting couch in the industry. He said that a very renowned filmmaker had offered him work in return of sexual favours.

Imlie actor Fahmaan Khan, in an interview with Hindustan Times, once revealed how he faced an uncomfortable casting couch experience early in his career. The actor recalled that a casting director allegedly hinted at compromising for work and later grabbed him inappropriately when he refused. Fahmaan said he pushed the person away and firmly warned him not to touch him again.

Ankit Gupta, best known for Bigg Boss 16, also opened up about facing the casting couch in the industry. Speaking to Pinkvilla, the actor recalled encountering inappropriate advances during his career and revealed that one person allegedly even went down on their knees, asking if they could simply touch him, leaving him shocked.
