During the ongoing investigation into Zubeen Garg's death, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) discovered a major cash transaction of around Rs 1 crore in the bank accounts of two of the singer's personal security officers (PSOs).

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state government has requested that the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax Department investigate the financial aspects of the Zubeen Garg death case.
