The 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks remain a tragedy that continues to haunt the city. From The Attacks of 26/11 to Hotel Mumbai and Mumbai Diaries, films and shows have revisited the horrific night. Now, Prahaar turns its attention to the courtroom battle that led to Ajmal Kasab’s execution. Does it make a compelling case?
Storyline
Prahaar gets straight to the point. Ujjwal Nikam (Rajkummar Rao), a brilliant and honest advocate with anger issues, is preparing for his daughter Sharvari’s engagement when terror strikes Mumbai. Appointed as the special public prosecutor in the case against Ajmal Kasab (Lalit Prabhakar), the lone terrorist captured alive during the 26/11 attacks, Nikam faces a challenging legal battle. Abbas Kazmi (Sikandar Kher) steps forward to defend Kasab, setting the stage for a courtroom showdown. Instead of dwelling on the attacks, the film focuses on the trial, arguments and appeals that preceded Kasab’s execution in 2012.
