The theatrical release of Mirzapur: The Movie will go ahead as scheduled after the Allahabad High Court on Thursday refused to stay its release. The court instead adjourned a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a halt on the film by four weeks.

Mirzapur: The Movie's stay order rebuked

As reported by India Today, the petition was filed by Lucknow-based lawyer Shalu Pandey, who raised objections to the film’s alleged portrayal of Mirzapur and claimed that it contains excessive violence, obscene content and derogatory references to the Uttar Pradesh district. The petitioner had approached the court seeking interim relief just a day before the film’s scheduled theatrical release.
