The latest update on Munna Bhai 3 is more concrete than the years of speculation that came before it. A new report says filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has brought writer Farhad Samji on board, with the long-awaited sequel expected to begin filming in 2027. The project is reportedly still in development, and the timeline has not been officially confirmed.

Farhad Samji joins the Munna Bhai 3 team

According to Variety India, Samji is currently writing the third instalment and is expected to complete the script soon. The writer has a connection to the franchise dating back to Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003), for which he penned the opening refrain of the popular song “M Bole Toh.”  The film is expected to bring back Sanjay Dutt as Munna Bhai and Arshad Warsi as his loyal friend Circuit. The two characters became popular after the first film and returned in Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), which explored Gandhian principles through comedy.
