Actor Imran Khan, along with his cousin Zayn Marie Khan and girlfriend Lekha Washington, grabbed headlines on October 10, after being detained at the CJP's protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls held at Mumbai's August Kranti Maidan. The actor's participation in the protest sparked a debate over his citizenship due to his Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status. He even received a notice to leave the country by October 28. 

The actor moved the court against the deportation notice, and on November 2, the Bombay High Court extended its stay on the same, after the actor apologised. Now, his cousin's OCI status has come under the scanner.
