When Daadi Ki Shaadi came Neetu Kapoor’s way, its fate at the box office was the last thing on her mind. The actor reacted instinctively to the story. Today, her faith has paid off — the family drama, also starring Kapil Sharma and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, continues to play at select theatres in its fourth week of release. To the veteran actor, it’s a sign that the audience does not subscribe to ageism.
“The film is holding steady because it has connected with people,” said Kapoor to mid-day, before pointing out that apart from Sharma, Ashish R Mohan’s directorial venture is led by two veteran actors — R Sarathkumar and her. “The movie is a counterpoint to ageism. It shows that it’s not about age in movies; good content brings the audience to the theatres. I have always believed that talent and a good story have no age limit. Daadi Ki Shaadi beautifully shows that senior actors can be just as engaging as any other lead,” she asserted.
